In the beginning all was empty, all was void, except for One. The One was Three, and the Three were One. The Creator; who was the Father. Spirit, and Son. They looked out into the vast nothingness and decided that the emptiness was perfect for a new creation. In six days he created everything - the flora, the fauna, the sun, moon and stars; Lanarda and everything in it. On the seventh day He declared it perfect. On this day He chose six species - male and female - and appointed them rulers over Lanarda; To care for it, to love it, to serve Him, and to love one another. He also have them one command - Not to drink from the pool of knowledge between good and evil. Along with this command he blessed them with abilities of many kinds to use for good, though after the fall they could also be used to do horrible evil. After many months of peace and joy, there was a dispute in the heavens unbeknown to the creatures of Lanarda. The most glorious of the heavenly host wanted more than what was due. Pride and greed had filled his heart with envy of the One who created all, and thus came his downfall. He created a vast army of angels to oppose the one who created him, and he marched up to the throne. With greed in their hearts, and victory in their eyes, little did this great army know that creation cannot rule over, nor defeat their creator. The heavens thundered, and the earth below shook with the fury of the onslaught. However, after little time the angel and his host were thrown down to Lanarda - banished from the realms of their creator. With the morning sun warming her fur, and the fresh warm breeze filled with scents of the fragrant blossoms of paradise, Mina gazed around contentedly. Life was perfect as it should be in this new world. Her mate, the one she had been created for, still slept, his orange and black striped pelt rising and falling with each peaceful breath. Walking along, she sighed happily, and dropped her white fur covered lips to the crystal clear water to drink. It was fresh and clean as it should be in this pure young world. Fully refreshed, she let the clean water bring her to high spirits. Her creator had made it just for her and all of the other species. Perfect and holy, just as she was.
Prowling along, a subtle but uncalled for question entered her mind. What would it be like to drink from that forbidden spring? If all was created perfect, is there any wrong in drinking from it? This was the first step in the species downfall. Though she quickly discarded the thought, it had done its damage.
For many days, she fought the question, knowing that if her creator had commanded her not to drink from the pool, she must not at any cost. After many days of battling this temptation, the queen came upon a serpent. Not a common kind, but a dark green, foul-looking serpent. This serpent was cunning, and wicked, and in fact he had been the lone angel who had challenged the creator and all that was good. Slithering to a halt, the serpent gazed deep into her eyes as if he knew her every weakness. Feeling intimidated by this foul being Mina growled out cautiously guarding her secret carefully. "What do you want?" She asked quickly averting her gaze to hide the inner-guilt her that her tumultuous thoughts brought her
The serpent eyed her cunningly, gaze full of mystery and deception. He wanted nothing more to destroy every last one of the species, but until he could find weakness he could do nothing. "No my dear, what is it that you want?" He could tell from her countenance that she was harboring some secret, some sin, and he knew that if he could grab the smallest foothold - no even a toehold, he could rule Lanarda. Letting his sly, cunning voice ooze like sweet honey into her ears he watched her, eyes full of wickedness and deceit. But knowing no true evil the queen missed all signs of the serpent's true intent, and fell unknowingly into the trap that would change the world.
Pausing fearfully, Mina watched him. Has he found out my secret? she thought to herself. Her fear escalated , but not knowing what to say, she refused to say anything out of her intense guilt. Instead she fell to a heap and started weeping out of pain and misery. This wasn't how it should be!
"My dear, my dear, it's all right." the serpent crooned. "If He made it, surely it was intended for good. Why would He tell you not to drink from it unless there was some awesome mystery behind it? Only he and his angels know what is evil. Is evil really wrong? Do you even know what evil is? Maybe the shame you feel is evil. But you are blinded. Maybe the pool is to keep you in the dark forever, and not truly know what true evil is." He didn't need her to speak to know what was in her heart. She had answered it readily enough with her tears.
Looking up at him tears glistening in her eyes, Mina gazed innocently at him, full of wonder. How had he guessed her thoughts? Was the pool really being wrongly held from her? "But the Creator said not to drink from it, why should I disobey him?" It was a half-hearted argument; she really wanted to hear what he had to say. Was he right, and the Creator wrong? How did the serpent know these things? Had he spoken to the creator himself?
"Things have changed my dear, follow me." Slithering calmly towards the pool Mina followed him silently, trusting in his wondrous words.
How refreshing the water was! So crisp and clean! Lapping as much water as her being could hold, the she-cat drank and drank; filling her greedy stomach with as much as she could hold. Somehow, however, the water was disappointing. She had expected much more than this. Though it temporarily satisfied her thirst she craved for more and more. It also left an unpleasant and hardly distinguishable aftertaste that lingered on her pink tongue. Meanwhile, not far away, the serpent sat high on a limb in a palm tree, swaying slightly with the breeze. As he swung to and fro, he hummed pleasantly with each forbidden sip the tigress had taken. He had his toehold and now he could defeat the world!
Stepping back from the pool, Mina retched up all the water she had forced herself to drink. She felt like all she had consumed wasn't enough. The craving for more had overtaken her and all she could think about was the water her body craved. It was much more addicting than the most potent drug! Going back to the pool she drank more of the tainted water until she could hold no more. Stepping away, she wished she could cry over her being unable to take in as much as she craved. Sighing sadly, Mina walked heavily away, tasting the foul aftertaste of the water. She had never in her life felt this disgusted. This forlorn. It was depressing. It was heart-wrenching. She couldn't get enough, and here she was at the point of losing it all on the ground again! Looking far up into the sky, Mina trembled with the realization of what she had done! She had disobeyed her creator! Suddenly, as if a light was turned on in a dark room, she understood the weight of what she had done. Now she understood what sin really was. How terrible the realization that came upon her! It was like a mountain had fallen upon her soul without any way to the open air. There was no room for any emotion except pain, guilt and despair. Oh how she wished she could regain the innocence she one had!
Leaping up to her paws she ran - ran as if her entirety depended on it. Her heart was bursting within her chest, her lungs gasping for air, her eyes burning with unshed tears. What had she done? Somehow, someway, her running brought her back to the forbidden pool. She was filled with regret at things that could never be undone. She had separated herself from her creator in the most painful way. She felt as if there would always be that guilt, that shame that would lie hidden even in even the brightest of daylight. Gazing into the pool she gazed at her lithe feline reflection. It was as if the pool now distorted her image into something vile and dirty. She turned away quickly, disgustedly, with shame.
"What is the matter my dear?" came the ever familiar voice of the serpent. Hearing its whiny sound, at once soothing and discomforting to her ears, Mina looked hopelessly up at his snakelike form situated comfortably in the trees."Well, I did as you said, but now I feel just horrible."
"Don't feel horrible my dear. In fact it's quite alright. Go tell your mate and your friends to come drink as well. I'm sure they would love to come and try. The only reason you feel so guilty is because you have not shared your accomplishment with anyone else. Sin is in fact not sharing the wonderful things in life with others. You don't want to be a 'sinner' now do you?
The serpent's argument sapped the last of her resolve, and she headed off to tell the other species.
As Mina sought out the others, they all failed the test of endurance of will. One by one the species fell, and as they were corrupted they were cursed. Slowly, with each younger generation, each species grew more and more resentful of those who were unlike them. Prey against predator, predator against prey, raptors choosing sides - divided one against the other. Only the long living dragons and griffons where able to remember and pass down the way things once were. These where the wise, but even some of them became corrupted, proving to be a great threat against all that is good.
As many more generations lived and died, prophets spoke of a time many years into the future of one who would reunite the species for a hundred years. Yet this prophecy was long forgotten until the one spoke of became fact.
The one spoken of, a dragon by birth, came into the world speaking of peace and showing many the way to repentance. This dragon, became king and ruled all of the species in peace and unity - a time that is now called the golden age. However, good things only last for a time, and after one hundred years of peace, evil rebelled; killing the dragon and turning the weak-minded against him. Yet, because he was creator, he came back to life three days later atoning those who believed in him, and saving them from the sin they had once drowned in.
After rising, the dragon chose leaders - one of each species - and blessed them telling them to go out and show the world who he was. With this command he gave them abilities few others had, leadership, wisdom, and many others. With this, he showed himself to many others telling them of the truth, and comforting the hurt.
Knowing that there were many that opposed him, he left because his time was done. It was time to let the world live by faith, and not by sight, and learn to trust him without seeing him. He was their creator, but they had to have faith.
Time once again moved onwards. Centuries passed, generations melted away like snow. All this came and went, and now... now as before, the world has crumbled, and there is more division, more corruption then ever. Every soul, every belief, everything matters now. Which side will you choose?
